About NectarMap

Why NectarMap Exists

People want local honey. Beekeepers have local honey. And yet, most jars sold are anonymous blends labelled “EU and non-EU” — whatever that means. Supermarket honey is pasteurised, processed, and often not what it claims to be. Meanwhile, the good stuff is sat in cupboards and garden sheds across the country — undiscovered.

NectarMap fixes that. It’s not a shop. It’s a signal. A quiet way to find proper honey near you — or to let people find yours. No wholesalers. No barcodes. No nonsense.

How NectarMap Started

When neighbours found out I kept bees, they started asking if I had any honey.

They wanted to buy local. I had jars sitting on the shelf.

Beekeepers don’t wear signs around their necks. We’re easy to miss.

Even in a small village, there might be six people looking for honey and someone making it — none of them aware of each other. In a city, it’s even worse. Hundreds of people might want proper local honey, but no one knows who lives three doors down — let alone which of them keeps bees.

I didn’t want a shop. I didn’t want to stand in the rain at markets. And I didn’t want to hand over half the value just to get listed on a shelf.

That’s what NectarMap is. Not a marketplace. A signal. A quiet way to be visible to the people who are already looking.

NectarMap — What makes it different

  • No “blend of EU and non-EU honey” labels — just real jars from real beekeepers
  • You’re not buying from a brand. You’re buying from a person
  • Beekeepers set the price. We take a small amount to keep things running
  • More for the beekeeper. None for the supermarket
  • Real honey. Real person. Real place

Who are you?

I’m Cai Niclas Wyn — beekeeper, engineer, and founder of NectarMap. Through my own beekeeping business, mêl menai, I manage over 100 hives in North Wales, where I rear queens and produce honey at scale — without compromising on quality.

I started NectarMap because I was tired of seeing good honey sit unsold while buyers reached for anonymous jars in the supermarket. No faceless jars. No industrial blends. Just honest, traceable honey — with provenance.

No industrial blends. No faceless jars. Only honest, traceable honey — with provenance.
